Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Topo Puzzles ("we", "us") for using topopuzzles.io and our emails (the "site"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Who can use the site
Anyone can play. To sign up for email, you must be 13 or older, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission.
2. The game
- Topo Puzzles is free. A new map goes up each day at 7:00 AM Mountain Time, with levels from Easy to Extreme. Older maps stay playable in the archive.
- Easy, Hard and Extreme take one answer. Medium gives you 2 tries. Once an answer is locked in, it can't be changed.
- Scoring is explained on the How to play page. We may adjust scoring, levels or features over time. If we find a mistake in a map or its answer, we may fix it and rescore that level.
- Your progress is tied to a random ID saved in your browser. If you clear your browser's storage or switch devices, your progress there starts over. We can't recover it.
- We try to keep the site running but don't promise it will always be available, error-free or unchanged. We may pause or end the site, or any part of it, at any time.
3. Play fair
Topo Puzzles is meant to be solved by looking at the map. Please don't:
- use scripts, bots or automated tools to play, guess answers or access the site;
- try to get answers before you lock in, for example by probing our servers, reading files you aren't meant to, or exploiting a bug;
- reset your player ID or use several to get extra tries;
- post answers for the current day where other players will see them before they've played;
- attack, overload or interfere with the site, or try to get around its limits or security.
If you find a bug or a way to see answers early, please tell us at privacy@topopuzzles.io instead of using it. We may remove scores that come from breaking these rules, and block access that harms the site or other players.
4. Our content
The maps, views, puzzles, design, text and code on the site belong to Topo Puzzles or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may play, and share your scores, results text and share cards anywhere. Don't copy, republish, sell or build a product on our maps or puzzles without our written permission.
"Topo Puzzles", "Topopuzzles.io" and our logo are ours. Please don't use them in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Fonts are Noto Sans and Noto Sans Mono, used under the SIL Open Font License.
5. The maps aren't for navigation
Our maps are made for puzzles. They may show invented terrain or be simplified, and they aren't accurate enough to plan a trip or find your way outdoors. Don't use them for navigation or safety decisions.
6. Email
If you sign up, we'll send the emails described when you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email.
7. Links to other sites
The site may link to other sites, such as X when you choose to post your score. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them. Their own terms apply.
8. Disclaimer
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
9. Limit on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Topo Puzzles won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, scores or profits, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
10. If something goes wrong
You agree to cover reasonable costs we face from claims caused by your breaking these terms or the law while using the site.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the version and effective date at the top, and for significant changes we'll post a notice on the site (and email subscribers, if it affects email). If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
12. Ending
You can stop using the site at any time, and delete your play data on the Your data page. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms. Sections 4, 5 and 8–13 still apply after that.
13. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live requires otherwise. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a right doesn't waive it. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
